Mathias A. “Matt” III, Jr., 78, of Quentin, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020, at WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital. He was the husband of Sharon F. (Lansing) Ill, with whom he celebrated 48 years in marriage.

Matt was born in Lebanon on Nov. 25, 1942, to the late Mathias A. and Elizabeth (Martalus) III. He had worked for Bethlehem Steel as a steelworker in the 10-inch mill, Schott Pharmaceuticals, and South Lebanon Elementary School. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He attended Campbelltown United Christian Church. He was a member of NHRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, is his children, Andrew “Andy” III, and his wife, Rebecca “Becky,” of Manheim, Amanda “Mandy,” and her husband, Brennen Snyder, of Lebanon, five grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, and Abbey III, and Charlotte and Lauren Snyder, a brother, Thomas III, and his wife, Kathie, of Thatcher, AZ, and his sisters, Mary Dempsey and Jean Davis, both of Harrisburg. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Podjed.

Due to the current pandemic, his funeral and interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
