Maxine R. Kerkeslager, 77, of Jonestown, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, June 15, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Dennis C. Kerkeslager, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage.
Born in Lebanon, PA, Maxine was the daughter of the late David and Pauline (Adams) Hoover.
Maxine found great joy in life’s simple pleasures — watching and feeding wildlife, sitting on her deck, caring for her cherished cats, and sharing her talents in the kitchen as an exceptional cook and baker. She was a woman of grace and perfection with impeccable standards and a love for high quality. She always had a good cup of coffee in hand. She loved to laugh, watch movies, share pies and cake with her sisters, and spend the day shopping and dining out.
Above all, Maxine was devoted to her husband, Dennis, and her home. She took exceptional care of Dennis for many years. In her later years, when illness touched her life, it was Dennis who lovingly returned that care.
In addition to her husband, Maxine is survived by her daughters, Renae Sattizahn, Reneen Uhler, and Teresa Brungart; grandchildren, Ryan Uhler, Dana Hertzog, Kara Keppley, William Brungart, Jenna Roesler, Alayna Brungart, Breanna Uhler, and Josiah Uhler; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Cameron Uhler, Tanner and Riley Hertzog, Lee, Thomas, Owen, and Cash Keppley, and Lydia Roesler; brother, Larry Hoover, husband of Gloria; sisters, Judith Seibert and Janice Miller; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Joshua Uhler; sisters, Darlene Smith and Shirley Royer; and brother, Henry Hoover.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to all who helped provide Maxine with excellent care, love, and support throughout her final days — the entire staff at Caring Hospice Services, especially Bonnie and Lauren, and her caregivers, Jolene, Judy, and Carmen.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 126 S. 9th St., Lebanon, PA 17042. Interment will follow at Covenant/Greenwood Cemetery. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Maxine’s name may be made to Caring Hospice’s Hopewell Foundation, 400 Commerce Dr., Suite C, Fort Washington, PA 19034.
