May R. Behney, 82, of Myerstown, died on Monday, Dec. 13, 2021, at the WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. She was the wife of Charles H. Behney, Jr., who died on Dec. 12, 2008.

Born in Wernersville, PA on May 20, 1939, May was a daughter of the late George and Anna (Sterner) Degler.

She was a graduate of Penn Bernville High School. May was a member, current pastor, and one of the original founders of the Soul Clinic Christian Community Church, Bernville. She worked at the family business, Behney Fabrication in Bernville, for over 30 years. May enjoyed gardening, flowers, bird watching, and puzzle making.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary A., wife of Steven Holl, of Wernersville, and Susan M., wife of Eric Doyle, of Washington, DC; sons, Jeffrey M., husband of Doris Behney, of Myerstown, and Jay M., husband of Sherri Behney, of Myerstown; grandchildren, Amber and Kaleb, Jennifer and Nathan, and David; great-grandchildren, Colin and Lily; sisters, Ruth McQuate, of Lower Heidelberg Twp., and Grace, wife of Richard Reber, of Bernville; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Herman, Paul, and Leon.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 8, at 2 p.m. at Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown, preceded by a visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family.
