Maybelle E. “Mickey” Schies, 93, of Lebanon, PA, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at her home.

Born in Mifflinville, PA on January 8, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Ernest A.M. and Thelma Laura Pifer Saphore. Mickey was a prolific poet for over 60 years. She loved reading, crossword puzzles, outdoors, her wild-domestic pets, and showering love on her four children, nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild with one on the way. She taught Sunday School and used her E.T.T.A. Certificate. She was a former member of Fredericksburg E.U.B., Jonestown Bible Church and Echo Valley Church.

She is survived by her sons, Stanley G. Schies of Lebanon, Dennis L. husband of Jan Schies of Downingtown; daughters Ruth A. wife of David A. Carl of Pine Grove, and Linda Jo wife of Doug G. Turnidge of Imbler, OR; and brother Allen Saphore of Lebanon. She was preceded in death by her former husband Joseph Schies and brothers, Ernest and William Saphore; and sisters Mary Zimmerman and Ruth Tilley.

Memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Lebanon, 150 N. Ramona Rd., Myerstown, PA 17067.
