Mervin M. “Hook” Walmer, 93, of Lebanon, died Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at UPMC Harrisburg. He was the husband of the late Carrie M. (Weik) Walmer, who died January 5, 2008.

Born in Lebanon, PA on April 6, 1928, he was the son of the late David and Elsie (Mark) Walmer. A 1947 graduate of Lebanon High School, he retired from Hershey Foods in 1990. Mervin was a season pass holder for the Hershey Bears and attended many Cedar Crest High School sporting events. He was also a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies. Mervin played softball for various church leagues, where he earned his nickname, “Hook.”

He is survived by a daughter, Diane Keefer, of Cleona; a son, Ronald Walmer, of Lebanon; grandchildren, David and Steven Keefer; sisters, Bernestine Hayden, and Gladys Witmer; brother-in-law, James Daub; and several nieces and nephews. Mervin was preceded in death by a sister, Lawrenetta Daub; brothers, Carl and Bernard Walmer; and son-in-law, Michael Keefer.

Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown, preceded by a viewing beginning at 10:00 a.m. A viewing will also be held Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Covenant/Greenwood Cemetery, Lebanon.
