Michael O’Connell Brungart, 71, of Lebanon, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2020 of natural causes at the Reading Hospital. He was the husband of Barbara (Eck) Brungart, they would have celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on April 28th.
Born in Bethel, PA on September 11, 1948, Mike was a son of the late Clare Sr. and Elizabeth (O’Connell) Brungart. He was a graduate of Tulpehocken High School, where he was lettered in soccer and wrestling. Mike worked from a young age for many years at his family’s restaurant, motel, and gas station, which was located on old route 22 in Bethel. He worked for 16 years at the Lebanon Bethlehem Steel Foundry and 27 years for the All American Truck Stop in Frystown. Mike was a proud life member of the Keystone Fire Company of Rehrersburg, Mt. Aetna Fire Company #1, and Mt. Zion Community Fire Company. He participate in many dart leagues, pool leagues, and softball teams throughout the counties. Mike enjoyed learning about the Brungart family history and looked forward to attending the annual family reunion at the Brungart’s hunting camp with his brother Dave.
In addition to his wife, Mike is survived by two brothers, David Brungart, and Clare Jr. “Sonny” Brungart, husband of Patricia; two sisters, Mary Ellen Stewart, wife of William, and April Kline; fifteen nephews; two nieces; one uncle, and many, many cousins. He was preceded in death by a sister, Carole Zimmerman.

Raise those cold adult beverages high and give a toast to Mike and when you’re in church sing the old hymns loudly so he can hear you, his favorite was “His Eye is on the Sparrow.”
There will be no viewing or services. Inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mike’s memory may be made to the Lebanon Community Library, 125 North 7th Street, Lebanon, PA 17046 or to your local fire company or veteran’s origination.
