Mildred Elizabeth “Dollie” Steckbeck, 88, went to join her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2024, at 10:17 p.m., at Cedar Haven Nursing Home in Lebanon, PA.
Millie was born in Lebanon on Aug. 15, 1935, to the late Elizabeth (LeGay) Beck and Boyd H. Beck Sr.
She attended Lebanon High School and graduated in 1953. Millie will be remembered for her lively personality and the deep love she shared with her family. She brightened many rooms with her silly and sometimes mischievous sense of humor – to use a phrase of hers, she was “full of the dickens.” As a military spouse, Millie spent years living around the world before settling back down in Lebanon. She chronicled her experiences in journals and photo albums and took joy in sharing stories from her life and travels in the years after. Her eyes would sparkle as she regaled the family with animated accounts of her many adventures and encounters in Alaska, Iran, and Panama. In her golden years, she enjoyed shopping and, more than anything else, spending quality time with her family.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Charles; daughter, Dawn (Steckbeck) Prihar; daughter-in-law, Ruthann; and several siblings.
Surviving is countless relatives who will miss her dearly, including her three sons, Douglas (Kimra), of Florida, and Dean (Sara) and Derik, of Lebanon County; her beloved sister, Lillian (Beck) Berezich; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her niece, Brenda (Moyer) Dinwiddie; and several other nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
A viewing will take place on Friday, Feb. 2, 2024, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Christman’s Funeral Home, 226 Cumberland St., Lebanon. A half-hour memorial service will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association in her memory.
