Mildred I. (Sherman) Arnold, 89, of Lebanon passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at home. She was the wife of Henry J. Arnold, Jr. They celebrated 71 years of marriage on October 14, 2021.
Mildred was born on October 16, 1932, the daughter of the late Arthur T. and Lizzie E. (Peffley) Sherman. She was a graduate of Fredericksburg High School. Mildred was a very hard worker. She was dedicated to helping her husband on their farms and also to establish and operate several other successful local businesses. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.
Mildred dedicated her adult life to being a loving wife to Henry J. Arnold, Jr., and a wonderful mother to her five children. She was preceded in death by her much-loved son, Larry H. Arnold, who passed away on January 14, 2021.
She is survived by children Bonnie L. Wallish, wife of Gary Wallish, Edward J. Arnold, husband of Dawn L. Arnold, Sandra A. Podjed, wife of Donald L. Podjed and Sharon L. Wartluft. She was also a loving Mama to her 13 grandchildren who she spent a lot of time babysitting and spoiling as they were growing up, Gary Wallish, Jr., Jamie Hund, Ashley Hawbaker, Christin Carrig, Brittany Tshudy, Nicole Urban, Shannon Pedrick, Danielle Truax, Gregory Wartluft, Jeffrey Wartluft, Eric Wartluft, Bryan Wartluft, and Lauren Wartluft. She is survived by 17 great-grandchildren who love to visit Mama to raid her never empty candy dishes. She was the best cook, and we will never forget her fried chicken, filling, pies and so many other goodies that she never really had a recipe for. We miss you already Mom and will love you forever.
Mildred was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Seyfert-Weiant. She is survived by brothers, Lowell J. Sherman and his wife Shirley, Rev. William A. Sherman and his wife Kay and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. from St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 125 S. Spruce Street, Annville. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lebanon. There will be a viewing from 10:00- 11:00 a.m. at the church.
