Nancy K. Hemler, 79, of Cleona, died on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021, in the WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. She was the wife of the late Francis D. “Frank” Hemler, who died in 2018.

Born in Chambersburg on Nov. 1, 1941, she was the daughter of the late R. Kenneth and Alice Miller Foust. Nancy was a graduate of Gettysburg High School, attended Juniata College, and received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Millersville University. Prior to retirement, she was employed as a 2nd-grade teacher at Henry Houck Elementary School.

Nancy was a member of Annville Church of the Brethren and an Honorary member of St. Paul the Apostle Church, Annville. She was an Associate member and played the organ at various Brethren Churches including Annville, Palmyra, and Conewago, and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at Palmyra Church of the Brethren.

Nancy was a member of Lebanon’s Sweet Adeline’s, Barbershop Harmony, Barbershop Quartet, and the Senior Singers of the Lebanon Choral Society. She volunteered for the Humane Society of Lebanon County and the Compeer United Way Program. Nancy had a love and passion for music, was extremely sociable, and cherished her family immensely. She enjoyed traveling, genealogy, tutoring, organ piano playing, singing, and her dog, Lyrics.

Nancy is survived by two sons, David A. Hemler, of Uppsala, Sweden, Thomas A. (Carrie) Hemler, of Westampton, NJ, grandchildren, Zachary, Maggie, Katie, Natasja, Liam, and Linn, three sisters, Sandi Wright, of Santa Fe, NM, Kandace (Joe) Melillo, of Harrisburg, PA, and Darlene Graybill, of Marietta, PA, and a half-sister, Lisa Hauenstein.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, Feb. 12, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the Annville Church of the Brethren, 495 E. Maple Street, Annville. Inurnment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lebanon. A visitation will be held at the Church on Friday from 10-11 a.m. To view the service by Livestream, go to the Church website https://www.annvillecob.org/.
