Nelson W. “Pete” Royer Jr., 89, of Lebanon, passed away on Monday, Jan. 26, 2026, at the Chester County Hospital – Penn Medicine in West Chester. He was the husband of the late Shirley B. (Hoover) Royer.
Born in Grantville on March 24, 1936, he was the son of the late Nelson W. and Violet M.E. (Neidich) Royer. He retired from H.B. Reese, where he worked in general production. He was a member of the Faith Fellowship Church in Cleona. Pete enjoyed hunting and working on his apartments. He was also an excellent stone mason.
He is survived by his sons, Gary L. Royer, of Pine Grove, and Brian W. Smith, of Jonestown; daughters, Belinda G., wife of Dennis Dankanich, of Downingtown, Corinne A., wife of Dean Richards, of Jonestown, Sharon, wife of Jim Evans, of Tower City, Lisa, wife of John Smith, of Dalmatia, and Sheila, wife of Scott Slade, of Annville; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Darryl A. Hoover; brothers, Gerald C. Royer and Bartholemew H. “Barry” Royer; and sisters, Dolores R. Lutz and Janice A. Bobst.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Jonestown. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Salem Evangelical Cemetery, Ono.
