Norbert E. Danz, 88, of Cornwall, passed away on November 20, 2021. He was the husband of Dolores A. (Good) Danz.

Norbert E. Danz “Norbie” was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to Ruth (Lynch) and Norbert Danz. He grew up with his siblings Margaret, Richard, Jeanne, Kenneth and Joseph. As a teen, Norbie loved spending his time competing in various athletic events including football, basketball and track. Upon graduation from Lancaster Catholic High School in 1951, Norbie continued his education and athletic career at George Washington University where he earned a Bachelor of Education degree and was a two- way starter and team captain of the football team.

In 1955, Norbie graduated from George Washington University and immediately enlisted into the United States Air Force where he fulfilled a three-year commitment as a part of the ROTC program. After college and a stint in the Air Force, Norbie went on to pursue his passion of being an educator and football coach. Between 1959-1968, he guided the Lebanon Catholic Beavers to three championships- including the first undefeated season by a Lebanon County football team. Norbie went on to coach football at Cedar Crest High School until 1976, where added to his accolades with two more section one titles. In 1976, Norbie accepted the head coaching position at J.P. McCaskey, in Lancaster. He guided the Red Tornadoes to three section one championships during his 10-year tenure there. Norbie returned to Cedar Crest from 1986-1995 where he earned another section championship. He was also inducted into the Pennsylvania Coaches Hall of Fame with a record of 222-140-8. In his late 20’s, he met Dolores A. Good. Soon after they had started a family, complete with Steven, Jeffrey, Linda, Laurie, and Christopher. While he is best known for his football career, he was first and foremost a committed husband, a dedicated father and devoted grandfather. Norbie enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf and cooking.

In addition to his wife, Dolores, and his children, Steven, Jeffrey, Linda, Laurie, and Christopher, Norbie is survived by his nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in passing by his siblings, Joseph Danz, Margaret Gallagher, and Jeanne Staffieri.

The funeral service will be held at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church (120 E. Lehman Street, Lebanon Pa, 17046) on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. The family would like to extend an invitation to a Celebration of Life at the Gretna Timbers (350 Timber Rd., Mt. Gretna, Pa, 17064) on Saturday, December 4th, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
