Ofelia R. DeLuca, 87, passed away Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021, at the Hershey Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Anthony “Tony” A. DeLuca. Born in Ciego De Avila, Cuba on Oct. 24, 1933, Ofelia was a daughter of the late Simon and Eustacia (Herrera) Crespo and the youngest of 11 siblings. She was very fond of cats, listening to gospel music, and visiting with her granddaughter’s puppy, Landon.
Ofelia is survived by her daughter, Melanie Hepburn, and her husband, Alan, a granddaughter, Alexis Hepburn, an older sister, Isabel, who resides in Cuba, and several nieces and nephews. Alexis was the light of Ofelia’s life and they brought each other immense joy. While Alexis is not fluent in Spanish, the two had wonderful conversations with one another. Ofelia was a resident of Frey Village in Middletown PA. While there, she met the best roommate anyone could ask for, Ms. Jenny Myers. Ofelia and Jenny referred to each other as their “angel.” They shared many activities together, including watching their favorite TV shows and playing BINGO. Winnings of BINGO consisted of stuffed animals, and most were gifted to Alexis with love.
Funeral services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ofelia’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 897, Hershey, PA 17033. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with the arrangements. Please share your memories with the family at our online guest book at thompsonfuneralhomelebanon.com
