Paul A. Spangler Jr., 81, passed away at home on Jan. 13, 2025. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra C. Spangler, who passed away in 2024.

Born in Lebanon, PA, on June 21, 1943, he was the son of the late Paul A. and Joyce E. (Gearhart) Spangler.

He was a 1961 graduate of Lebanon High School and served in the National Guard. He worked as a maintenance mechanic at the ALCOA plant in Lebanon for over 30 years until the plant’s closing in 2002 and then at The Hershey Company until 2009. He was a hard worker and was meticulous in whatever task he undertook. Paul, who was also known as Sam, was a kind and sharp-witted man with a great sense of humor. He would often impress people with his clever remarks and wisdom. He enjoyed working in his yard, going to classic car shows, fixing things, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his daughters, Tracy R., wife of Tim Fleager, of Mechanicsburg, and Terri L., wife of Ron Porter Jr., of Harrisburg; granddaughter, Briana Marie (BriMarie) Turner; four nieces; and four nephews.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Barbara Myers and Constance Spangler; and brother, William Spangler.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 1 p.m., with visitation from noon to 1 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church, 119 N. 8th St., Lebanon, PA. Interment will follow at Mount Lebanon Cemetery.
