Paul Richard Quinn, 88, of Myerstown, PA, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2025. He was born on April 26, 1937, in Adelaide, PA, to Hugh P. and Marie E. (Cunningham) Quinn. He was the beloved husband of Eleanor A. (Vastinar) Quinn, father of Michael H. (Valeria) Quinn and Colleen M. (Christopher) Falcone, and grandfather of Shannon, Michael Paul, Margarette, Emma, Claire, and Zhenia. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Tommy, Jack, Patricia, Louise, Dorothy, and Raymond.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy, 6th Fleet, Mediterranean Sea, from 1955 to 1959. Upon leaving the U.S. Navy, he attended the PA State Police Academy in Hershey, PA, where he met and later married Eleanor. He was a PA State Trooper assigned to the PA Turnpike. After leaving the State Police in 1967, he focused on trailer manufacturing, sales, and repair until his retirement in 2002.
Paul and Eleanor traveled extensively. They drove west to California several times and the Alcan highway to Fairbanks, Alaska. They toured many European countries, visiting the birthplace of their ancestors in Ireland and Slovakia. He loved cruising, and they enjoyed their trip through the Panama Canal down to Santiago, Chile, as well as their transatlantic crossing from Rome to Miami.
Paul was active with the Union Canal Old Tunnel Park. He helped build the canal boat, “Lois Meily” in 2007. As a licensed boat operator, he enjoyed taking tourists, and especially children, through the 650-foot-long, oldest navigable tunnel.
He was Extraordinary Minister at the Church of St. Benedict the Abbot and a member of the Residents Committee of the Arbor Gate Lakeview Center.
A mass and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025, at 12 p.m., at Mary Gate of Heaven Catholic Church, Myerstown, PA 17067. A visitation will be held prior to mass from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Thompson Funeral Home Inc., 126 S. 9th St., Lebanon, is entrusted with the arrangements.
