Phoebe M. Fernsler, 100, of Annville, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024, at The Lebanon Valley Home. She was the wife of the late Edgar E. Fernsler Sr., who passed away in 1998.
Phoebe was born in Jonestown on Oct. 17, 1923, to the late Oscar N. and Rosa L. (Boeshore) Unger.
She was a 1941 Annville High School graduate. She was a school bus driver for Annville School District and then for Annville Cleona School District. She worked in the cafeteria at Annville Cleona School. She retired from Sears after 20 years in sales. Phoebe was a member of Christ Church UCC, where she was active within the Women’s Guild, Stein Bee Sunday School, and Youth Fellowship Advisors. She was also active with the Annville Senior Citizens and was a member of the Sears Retiree Group. She enjoyed traveling for spring training games, doing counted cross stitch, and taking walks. Her greatest enjoyment and love was her family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Edgar E. Fernsler Jr. (Donna), of Lititz, and Thomas J. Fernsler (Beth), of Wilmington, DE; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, James M. Fernsler; and siblings, John L. Unger, Russell A. Unger, Henry D. Unger, and Fannie I. Berman.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024, at 12 p.m. at Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 618 E. Main St., Annville. Interment will be in Grand View Memorial Park. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2024, from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home. There will be an additional viewing on Thursday from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the funeral home.
