Ray A. Deck, 98, of Myerstown, PA, died on Friday, Jan. 9, 2026, at StoneRidge Poplar Run, Myerstown. He was the husband of June E. (Klick) Deck, who died on June 9, 2013.
Born in Mount Aetna, PA, on March 20, 1927, he was a son of the late Miles and Nellie (Batdorf) Deck. Ray served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church, Myerstown, a member of the Myerstown Rod and Gun Club, and a lifetime member of the Myerstown VFW Post 6076. Ray was employed as a lineman and lineman supervisor at Denver and Ephrata Telephone Company for over 30 years, retiring in 1989. He also worked as a lineman at Bethel and Mount Aetna Telephone Company. Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his woodshop, and gardening.
He is survived by his sons, Jeff, husband of Cindy Deck, of Orangeville, PA, and Gary, husband of Carmela Deck, of Bethel, PA; grandchildren, Megan, Ashley, Erin, Katie, Ben, and Gary; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Josh, Gavin, Cole, Heaton, Micah, Luke, Oliver, and Theodore; great-great-granddaughter, Adaline; and several nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Lauren; great-grandson, Ryder; sister, Mildred Deck; and brothers, Allen, Curtis, Clarence, and Carl Deck.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 16, 2026, at 12 p.m., at Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown, preceded by a viewing beginning at 11 a.m. Interment with military honors will be at the Zion United Methodist Cemetery, Myerstown.
