Raymond G. Sidle, 81, of Lebanon, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025. He was the husband of Betty (Schlegel) Sidle, to whom he was married for 33 years.

Born in Mechanicsburg, he was a son of the late John T. Sidle and Clara E. (Williams) Reitz. Ray graduated from Lebanon High School in 1962. One of his fondest memories was traveling to Mason City, Iowa, ranking third in The Music Man Marching Band Competition Festival.

In 1976, he established Ray’s Vacuum Center in Lebanon, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 2019. He continued to provide his expertise to his niece, who now operates the business, with the same values and commitment to serve the community of Lebanon.

He was a member of Covenant UMC in Lebanon, where he served as a trustee and usher. Ray’s hobbies included his love of craft beer, including brewing his own beer, spending time outdoors on the patio, and traveling with Betty. He was a handyman, willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. Ray was generous, caring, and had a great sense of humor. He had a passion for food, especially dessert. He enjoyed watching college football, always cheering on Penn State. Ray and Betty opened their home and hearts, rescuing countless animals in need through the years. He will be missed by his best bud, Otis.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Eric, and wife, Denise; granddaughter, Sarah; several amazing nieces and nephews; and great lifetime friends. Ray is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Lois Schlegel and Debra Sidle; and brothers-in-law, Gary Schlegel (Joni), John Schlegel (Jenny), and William “Bill” Schlegel (Becca).

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Richard.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 15, 2025, at 11 a.m., at Kreamer Funeral Home, 618 E. Main St., Annville. Interment will follow at Covenant/Greenwood Cemetery, Lebanon. A visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of his service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to PAWS of PA at pawsofpa.org or to First UMC of Erie at www.fumcerie.org in his memory.
