Retired Chief Master Seargant, Air Force, Leo P. Batz, 85, of Cleona, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2024, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Barbara Ann (Lawrence) Batz, who passed away in 1999.

Born in North Cornwall Township, PA, he was a son of the late Herbert T. Batz Sr. and Catherine M. (Betz) Batz.

Leo graduated from Lebanon Catholic High School in 1956 and retired with 40 years of service as an Airborne Communications Systems Operator with the PA National Guard. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Annville, where he was a member of the Fr. Michael Barrett Council #9875 Knights of Columbus, usher, and former vice president of the St. Vincent DePaul Society. He also was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, was a life member of the VFW and the Annville American Legion, and owned and operated Batz’s Bookkeeping and Tax Service business for many years.

He is survived by his children, Pamela S. Batz (Stephanie Holt), Christopher P. Batz, Mark A. Batz, David T. Batz (Jennifer), and Deborah Lohrengel; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four siblings, John “Jack” Batz (Judy), David Batz (Cheryl), Joseph Batz (Barbara), and Thomas Batz (Terry).

Leo was preceded in death by nine siblings, Herbert Batz Jr., Robert Batz, James Batz, William Batz, Bernard Batz, Cyril Batz, Warren Batz, Richard Batz, and Paul Batz.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2024, at 12 p.m. from St. Paul the Apostle Church, 125 S. Spruce St., Annville. Interment will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of his Mass at the Church.
