Rev. Barry J. Arnold, 82, of Lebanon, went home to heaven on Friday, July 26, 2024, at his home. He was the husband of the late Lois J. (Hess) Arnold.
Born in Cocolamus, PA, on July 16, 1942, he was the son of the late John W. and Mary P. (Snyder) Arnold.
For over 60 years, he faithfully served in ministry. He pastored churches in Henderson, MD, and Mount Pleasant Mills, PA, and he retired after 35 years of serving as the pastor of the God’s Missionary Church in Lebanon. Following his retirement, he then pastored in Salunga, and he was pastoring at the Lebanon Gospel Center at the time of his death. Over the years, he served as the conference vice president and as a member of the Penn View Bible Institute Board and served on the World Mission Board. He played a key role in founding the God’s Missionary Church Youth Camp, and he was the co-founder of the Bus and Outreach Convention. His life was spent in ministry, but in his free time, he enjoyed working on his farm. For many years, he had a produce stand at the Lebanon Farmer’s Market and sold produce on his farm. He loved his Allis Chalmers tractors and adding to his toy collection. He was a member of the Eastern States Allis Chalmers Collectors Association.
He is survived by his sons, Thomas E., husband of Yolande Arnold, of Lebanon, Daniel B. Arnold, of Myerstown, Nathan J., husband of Heidi Arnold, of Selinsgrove, and Matthew L. husband of Lorinda Arnold, of Jonestown; his daughter, Dorcas R., wife of Philip Bishop, of Bowdon, GA; his brother, Lester, husband of Jeannie Arnold, of Jonestown; 11 grandchildrenl and 10 great-grandchildren; Joshua Arnold, Jordan (Katie) Arnold and Tommy, Grant, and Ellie, Joslyn (Darren) Habecker and Brooklyn, Hailey and Hudson, Janessa (Joel) Kauffman, Brandon (Brittany) Arnold and Aiden and Mia, Derrik and Makaela Arnold, Johnathan (Lexi) Arnold and Adam and Theodore; and Blake, Braxton, and Brynlee Bishop.
He was preceded in death by his infant sister, Anna Mae Arnold.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at the God’s Missionary Church, 2127 Hill St., Lebanon. There will be a viewing at the church on Monday from 4-7 p.m. and beginning at 9 a.m. until the start of the service on Tuesday. Interment will follow at Wenger’s Meeting House Cemetery, Jonestown.
