Richard B. Brightbill, 97, of Annville, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty J. (Walters) Brightbill.
Born in Lebanon, PA, on July 30, 1927, he was the son of the late Hiram and Hannah (Breidenstine) Brightbill.
Richard was a member of South Lebanon Community Church and retired from Bombergers Bologna Inc. at age 60 after many years of employment. Richard and his wife, Betty, were sacrificial in their love for their family—whether attending his great-nieces’ and great-nephews’ sporting events or volunteering to help with any work that had to be done. He spent countless hours with his great-great-nieces and -nephews, who loved him as another grandfather. All who knew Richard would agree he was the kindest and most generous man they’d ever met. When he wasn’t participating in family activities, he was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, Penn State football, and the Phillies.
Richard is survived by many nieces and nephews, including Marie (Forney) Kling, Deb (Forney) Meyerhoffer, and Glenn Forney—to whom he was like a second father.
Richard was the last survivor of his immediate family that totaled 14 siblings including himself.
The family wishes to express gratitude and thanks to the staff of Linden Village and Grane Hospice for their caregiving efforts towards Richard over the last several months.
