Richard B. “Richie” Grimes, 85, of Palmyra, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024, at Hershey Medical Center. He was the husband of Adele (Jahn) Grimes, with whom he celebrated 63 years of marriage.
Richard was born in Staten Island, NY, on Nov. 13, 1938, to the late Newton and Verna (Parks) Grimes.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He retired from the NYPD after 22 years of service. He then retired from Derry Township as a school bus driver. Richard was a member of The Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Palmyra and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He had many interests, which included hunting, gardening, cooking, dog training, archery, and painting. If something in the house was broken, Richard, a talented handyman, was sure to fix it. Spending time with his family was always his top priority.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, is his children, Richard W. Grimes (Livia), of Palmyra, and Allison A. Alonso (Andy), of Annville; and three grandchildren, Andrew, Amanda, and Alex.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Jack Grimes and Janet Donat.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 618 E. Main St., Annville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 12:30 p.m., at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 300 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA. Burial will take place in Grand View Memorial Park, Lebanon, with military honors.
