Richard Sauers, 91, of Myerstown, PA, died on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at his residence. He was the husband of Joan M. (Proca) Sauers. They celebrated 23 years of marriage on April 13, 2025.

Born in Phoenixville, PA, on May 8, 1934, Richard was a son of the late Henry and Frannie (Scholl) Sauers. He was a 1952 graduate of Phoenixville High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a proud member of the Sea Beas. He retired after 27 years as a supervisor for voting machines in Bucks County.

Richard was a member of the Masonic Lodge #307. In his younger years, he was very active in St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Warrington, PA, and the Scouts. He was devoted to reading and learning.

In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his sons, Brian Sauers, husband of Christine, and Kurt Sauers; step-sons, Richard Poniktera, husband of Laura, and David Poniktera, husband of Connie; grandchildren, Colin, Jacob, and Allison; seven step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; former wife, Helena Sauers; and three nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by all of his siblings and two nieces.

Memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 12 p.m., at Grose Funeral Home Inc., 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown, PA. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
