Richard Daniel “Dick” Hummel, 80, of Lebanon, PA, passed away unexpectedly at home on June 15, 2026. He was the husband of Elizabeth “Betty” Rasmussen and celebrated 53 years of marriage on March 17.
Born in Lebanon, PA, on March 1, 1946, Dick was the son of the late Florence Schaeffer and Harvey Hummel. He was the last of his immediate family. He is survived by his children, Laurie (Dale), Daniel (Dianna), Howard (Tammy), Susan (Shane), and Rebecca (Jason). He had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dick was a steel mill worker, having worked at Quaker Alloy before retiring from Regal Cast. He was a hard worker and took great pride in taking care of his family and home. He kept busy tending to his yard, tinkering in his workshop, driving Betty for Facebook Marketplace deals, and helping with the little ones.
He was always available for his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. He did countless oil changes during their teenage years and remodeling projects when they became homeowners.
We loved to say he was a “jack of all trades, master of none.” He was jokingly gifted a shirt that said: “Measure twice, cut once.”
After moving from Fredericksburg to Lebanon, they found their home at the Church of the Good Shepherd. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
