Richard “Dick” Dernar, 84, of Annville, passed away at his residence on Monday, October 11, 2021. He was the husband of Carol E. (Hagerich) Dernar, with whom he celebrated 65 years in marriage.
Dick was born in Franklin Boro, Cambria County on May 9, 1937, to the late John and Mary (Mitrik) Dernar. He was a property manager for Laurel Management when he retired after 43 years. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Annville. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren flourish and grow, golfing, gardening, collecting the “Grinch”, reading, musicals, and spending time with his family, and his “Best Buddy”, his canine companion, Charlie. He considered his six daughters his greatest achievements.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his daughters, Schelley Brandle (David) of Sunrise, FL, Judith Cates of Johnstown, Lee Ann Podgorney (Jim) of Sunrise, FL, Patricia Stine of New Orleans, LA, Mary Brickels (Robert) of Wilmington, NC, Peggy Morcom (Paul) of Annville, 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one great-grandson on the way, and a brother, Robert Dernar (Yvonne). He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Ron Stine, and his siblings, Michael Dernar, John Dernar, Margaret Deitke, and Anna Percinsky.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
