Richard Donmoyer Gerhart, 87, of Palmyra passed away Monday, October 25, 2021.
Born June 27, at home in 1934 in Jonestown, he was a son of the late William and Helen (Donmoyer) Gerhart. Richard was preceded in death by siblings, Rachel Grace Hook, Mary Gerhart, Bill Gerhart, Sallie Furman, Ruth Brinser, Bobby Gerhart, Sr. and Cora Gerhart.
Dick was an entrepreneur by the truest definition of the word. He was always self employed either as a race car driver, “kitchen jewelry” sales, landlord, real estate developer, limousine owner/driver, Cool Pop’s Soft Serve or in retail (together with his wife of 62 years) with The Cinderella Shoppe. He was a Korean War U.S. Navy veteran and former member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Jonestown where he climbed the steeple to light the star on Christmas Eve.
Surviving are his wife Annette L. (Reinfeld) Gerhart; sons Steve Gerhart, Jeff Gerhart and Mike Gerhart; sister Ginny Gerhart; brother Eddie Gerhart; grandchildren Julia, Kevin, Ashlyn, Grant, and Lauren; and six great grandchildren.
After a noon viewing, a funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 4, 2021 at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 120 West Market Street, Jonestown 17038. 2:30 p.m. interment, with military honors, will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Following burial, a 3:00 p.m. hot lunch will be provided at the Fort Indiantown Gap Community/Arrowhead Club, 9-65 Fisher Avenue, Annville 17003 (beside the PX gas station).
