With heavy hearts but deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Richard J. “Dick” Tice, 91, of Annville, who left this world peacefully on Friday, April 18, 2025, at the Lebanon Valley Home. He was the devoted husband of Joan G. (Smith) Tice, his partner in love, life, and travel for an incredible 72 years.
Born in Annville on Sept. 4, 1933, to the late Clayton Tice Sr. and Margaret (Eisenhauer) Tice, Dick was a proud 1951 graduate of Annville High School. Soon after, he answered the call of duty, serving with honor in the U.S. Army Military Police during the Korean War—a chapter of his life he carried with quiet pride.
Dick worked as the building maintenance supervisor at ALCOA, where his hard work and reliability earned him deep respect. But it was outside the workplace that his zest for life truly shined. A passionate outdoorsman, Dick was happiest when he was in nature—whether big game hunting, casting a line, caring for a variety of animals, tending his garden, traveling with his wife, or working with his hands in his woodshop.
He was a proud member of the Annville Jaycees, a lifetime member of the Hebron Hunting Club in Cedar Run, PA, the Central PA Antique Gun Club, and the Steelstown Gun Club. He enjoyed collecting firearms, knives, fishing lures, photographs, news clippings, and magazines. Through these groups and activities, he shared his passions and formed many lasting friendships.
Above all, Dick was a family man. His love for the outdoors was matched only by the love he had for his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan; sons, Rick Tice (Sharon), of Cleona, and Rob Tice (Ann), of Wake Forest, NC; and grandchildren, Melissa (Ed) Martin, Ryan Tice, and Emilie Monroe (Zeke), who will forever cherish their “Pa.” He also leaves behind his sister, Anita Ziegler, of Palmyra, and joins in peace his siblings, Clayton Jr., Charles, Dot Keller, Betty Dohner, Eleanor Tice, and Marian Ristenbatt.
A procession will form on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 1:30 p.m., at Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 618 E. Main St., Annville. A military ceremony will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in celebration of Dick’s generous spirit and love for the outdoors to the Friends of Old Annville – Quittie Creek Nature Park Fund, P.O. Box 99, Annville, PA 17003 or www.fooa.org/donations.
