Richard L. “Dick” Light, 86, of Fredericksburg, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at his home. He was the husband of Sophie R. Bicksler Light. On June 21st, they would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.
Born in Annville on December 22, 1935, he was the son of the late Elmer M. and Edith Olweiler Light.
Dick retired from Bell Telephone after 30 years of service. Along with his wife, they were the owners and operators of the Farmer’s Wife Restaurant for 23 years. He especially enjoyed and loved working on his farms. He attended the Jonestown Bible Church. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons Dean R. Light of Fredericksburg, Bruce A. husband of Cathy Light of Lebanon, and John P. husband of Ricki Light of Jonestown; daughters Stephanie J. wife of Michael Chambers of Maryland and Amy E. Light of Fredericksburg; eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; brothers Ronald Light of Myerstown, Baron Light of Hamburg and Jeffrey Light of SC; sisters Elaine Graeff of Myerstown, Betty Schaeffer of Myerstown, Karen Trimble of Wernersville and Joanne Hayes of Lebanon.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Ralph and Kenneth Light.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at the Jonestown Bible Church, 14 Silvertown Rd., Jonestown. A viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m. until the start of the service. Interment will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his church.
