Richard L. Peiffer, 90, of Cleona, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024, at Spang Crest. He is survived by his loving wife, Roberta A. (Zimmerman) Peiffer, to whom he was married for over 62 years.
Born in Mount Aetna on July 3, 1934, he was the son of the late Ray J. and Mary J. (Seigfried) Peiffer.
Richard graduated from Lebanon High School, served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, and then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. After the Air Force, he went on to work for Met-Ed for 30 years. He was very involved in his community throughout his life. Richard served on the Cleona Borough Council for 16 years, was a little league baseball coach, a scout leader, and a trustee for Immanuel United Methodist Church in Cleona. He also enjoyed taking cruises with his wife and vacationing with family. Richard was a very affable and fun-loving man who was always the life of the party.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three children, Dawn M. Sternberger, wife of Michael, of Palmyra, Michael E. Peiffer, husband of Nicolee, of Cleona, and Matthew R. Peiffer, husband of Melinda, of Schaefferstown; a brother, Robert P. Peiffer, of Landisville; six grandchildren, Spenser Peiffer, Bryce Sternberger, Sidni Peiffer, Ciera Sternberger, Eve Peiffer, and Reilly Peiffer; and one great-grandson, Colter Metz.
A celebration of life service will be held on Nov. 4, 2024, beginning at 11 a.m. at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 29 E. Maple St., Cleona, PA 17042.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 255 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601, in his memory.
