Robert A. Levin, 95, formerly of Norwich, New York, died on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Stoneridge Retirement Living Community, Myerstown, Pennsylvania.
Robert was born in Queens, New York, the son of Michael and Bessie Levin, on July 25, 1929. He graduated from high school in Queens, New York, and earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s in physiology from St. John’s University, New York City, New York. Robert served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Ruth and Robert were married in New York City in 1955 and moved to Norwich, New York. Robert was employed as a Lab Manager and Clinical Pathologist at Procter and Gamble, the successor to the Norwich Pharmacal Co., Norwich, New York, for 40 years, retiring in 1994.
Robert was an emeritus member of the American Chemical Society and an emeritus member of the Clinical Chemistry Society. He was active in academics, including scientific advisory councils for Community Colleges at Broome County, Morrisville, and Mohawk Valley, Utica. Robert was active in community service, including committee chair to build the new Norwich Junior High School, the PTA, and the Rotary Club.
Robert was a Freemason for over 70 years, where he served as District Deputy Grand Master of the Broome Chenango district. He was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientists, Boston, MA. He held a Ham Radio Amateur Extra Class license, N2KYZ.
In retirement, Robert and Ruth relocated to Myerstown, PA, to the Arbor Gate community, where he participated in the Arbor Gate community theater productions portraying Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof and Emile de Becque in South Pacific. Robert and Ruth later took residence at Stoneridge Retirement Living Community, where he served as a Resident Board Liaison for Stoneridge Retirement Living Community, and head of the Stoneridge Veterans Association.
Robert is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ruth Levin; son, Robert (Donna) Levin, of Annapolis, Maryland; daughter, Sandra (Scott) Groth, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; and daughter, Sarah (Charles) Remelt, of Rochester, New York. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Levin, of Baltimore, Maryland. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Mary Ellen (Joe) Cook, Caroline Levin, Parker (Allison) Remelt, and Theodore Groth; and great-grandchildren, Conor Cook and Amelia Cook.
