Robert “Big Bob” Litton passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at the age of 80.
Bob was born on Sept. 23, 1945, in Philadelphia, PA, to George and Katherine. He was the youngest of his brothers, George and Ronald. Bob spent much of his life in Townbank, NJ, a few blocks from the bay. As a very young boy, he became the first mate on his uncle’s party boat. At the family’s summer bungalow, Bob and his cousins created a lifetime of memories filled with playful shenanigans and endless adventures. It was through those experiences that he developed a lifelong passion for deep-sea fishing, a love of the ocean, and all things nautical.
After the loss of his mother at a young age, Bob’s father moved the family to Levittown, PA. Bob graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and, at just 17 years old, enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Throughout his four years of honorable service aboard the USS Currituck during the Vietnam War, he was a skilled lithographer. While stationed in San Diego, CA, Bob met the love of his life, Margo.
Bob and Margo were married in 1969 and made their home in Levittown, PA, where they lovingly raised their children, Bobby and Jennifer. Their home was always lively, shared with family, neighbors, and friends as well as beloved dogs, parakeets, and other small critters that brought joy to the household. Bob worked for several local newspapers as a printing pressman throughout his career. He devoted over 30 years to the production of the prestigious Wall Street Journal as a platemaker while proudly providing for his family.
Following the loss of his cherished wife, Margo, whose passing came far too soon, Bob made his home in Fredericksburg, PA. He appreciated the peace and beauty of small-town country life, often spending time in the community and especially enjoying the nature preserve that bordered his backyard. As an animal lover, Bob found joy in feeding the birds and squirrels that gathered on his back deck.
Bob earned the title of “tough old bird” through a lifetime of resilience, determination, and hard work. Bob was a man who valued order and took great care in everything he did. He kept things neat, whether it was his home, his belongings, or the many cars he loved and took pride in owning and maintaining over the years.
He never hesitated to speak his mind. Bob was quick with a joke and had a bold sense of humor that kept family and friends laughing. His honesty, generosity, meticulous nature, and vibrant personality left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Bob is lovingly remembered by his son, Bobby (Jaime); daughter, Jennifer (Tony); and treasured grandson, Luke. His family was his greatest source of pride, and he took immense joy in their accomplishments, happiness, and the memories they shared together.
