Robert “Bob” James Wartluft, 90, of Annville, entered Heaven on Sunday, March 5, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Betty Lucille (Kling) Wartluft, to whom he was married for 63 years.
Robert was born in Myerstown on November 17, 1932, to the late James Wartluft and Mae (Stamm) Wartluft.
Robert was a dedicated member at Zion E.C. Church in Annville, where he served as a custodian, sound tech, and so much more. Bob worked at Bethlehem Steel in Lebanon and later as a roofer at Smith’s Sheet Metal in Annville. Bob was a member of the Annville Fire & Rescue Company, where he drove fire trucks and served as fire police. Bob was a member of Annville’s finest Boom Bass Band. He loved fixing anything and was known as “Bob the Builder” to many. Bob loved watching NASCAR Racing & the Pittsburgh Penguins hockey games, going to local races, and loved attending Gospel Quartet and Barbershop Quartet Concerts. He loved family trips to the beach (Wildwood) & cabins all over PA. He loved playing Parcheesi and was the king of blockades. He enjoyed church retreats, Smith’s Christmas parties, family reunions, and all family gatherings.
Surviving is his children, Kenneth O’Dell Wartluft and Tammy Lynn Carder. He was “Pop” to five grandchildren, Keith Wartluft, and his wife, Amy (Mortimore) Wartluft, Janelle (Wartluft) Stone, and her husband, Daniel Stone, Stephen Carder, Nathan Carder, and McKenna (Carder) Brunty, and her husband, Jonathan Brunty; seven great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Stone, Ava Stone, Ajamu Stone, Tshepang Stone, Colton Wartluft, Tanner Wartluft, and soon-to-be joining the family, Mathilde Stone; and his sister, Ruth (Wartluft) Knepp, and her husband, Don, and brother, Mark Wartluft, and his wife, Jean.
Robert was preceded in death by a son, Robert “Bobby” Eugene Wartluft; a sister, Lillian Wartluft, and his brothers, David “Russ” Wartluft and Guy Wartluft; daughter-in-law, Doris (Burke) Wartluft; and close friend, Shirley Ann Schwab.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 11 AM at Zion EC Church, 710 S. White Oak Street, Annville. Interment will be in Mt. Annville Cemetery with his late wife. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, from 6 PM – 8 PM at Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 618 E. Main Street, Annville. There will be an additional viewing on Thursday, March 9, 2023, from 10 AM – 11 AM at the church.
