Robert C. Schafer Jr., 68, of Annville, passed away Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. He was the husband of Susan M. (Wittas) Schafer, to whom he was married for 28 years.

Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of Robert C. Sr. and Peggy (Vitelli) Schafer.

Robert graduated from Elizabethtown High School and retired from the Masonic Village, where he worked as a boiler operator. Robert served in the US Army, with a rank of SP4, and was stationed in Germany for three and a half of his four years in the service. He enjoyed hiking, gardening, and being outdoors in nature. Robert loved animals, woodworking, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Susan, he is survived by a son, Jason Schafer, and his fiancé, Jennifer Emlet, of Middletown; a daughter, Cynthia Markley, of Lancaster; nine grandchildren, Savanna, Kaileib, Arian, Addison, Jaxin, Alana, Blake, Summer, and Isaiah; a great-grandson, Timothy; a brother, Anthony Schafer, and wife, Cheryl, of Elizabethtown, and a sister, Lisa Grosso, of NJ.

Robert was preceded in death by a daughter, Tiffany Elizabeth Schafer; a brother, Mark Schafer; and a sister, Linda Schafer.

In accordance with the family’s wishes, there will be no services.
