Robert E. Hummer, 76, of Jonestown, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at his home. He was the husband of Martha J. Bashore Hummer. On December 12th, they would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.

Born in N. Lebanon Twp. on February 7, 1945, he was the son of the late Chester B. and Lydia E. Sudbury Hummer. Bob was a dairy farmer for many years in Frystown and Bernville. He then returned to the family farm in Jonestown, where he continued to farm crops and animals while also driving truck for Savannah Trucking, Inc. in Rehrersburg. Bob retired from Savannah Trucking around 2016 but continued to farm.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons Matthew R. and Marc C. Hummer, both of Jonestown; daughter Kelley Hummer-McLaughlin wife of Andrew McLaughlin, of Apex, NC; grandchildren Julia & Finn McLaughlin and Dustin & Wyatt Hummer; great-grandchildren Brea and Freya; and sisters Edith Kreider, of Palmyra, Fern Heisey, of Lickdale and Sandy Engle, of Palmyra.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Carl B. and Paul H. Hummer, and sisters Anna Hummer, Beatrice Neidig, and Phyllis Schaeffer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 2, 2021, at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Rt. 72 & Camp Meeting Rd., Jonestown. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will follow at Grantville Cemetery.
