Robert E. Smith, 101, of Lebanon, passed away at home on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026.
He was born in Lebanon on Aug. 6, 1924, a son of the late William F. and Vinnie (Folmer) Smith. Robert was the husband of the late Gabrielle O. (Piva) Smith, to whom he was married for 76 years. Mr. Smith was a self-employed insurance agent when he retired. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he was a veteran of WWII and served during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed tennis, golf, dancing, traveling, motorcycling, bicycling, and most of all, his loving family. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Lebanon.
Surviving are his children, Denyse Carpenter, wife of the late William Carpenter, Shirley, wife of Jerry Wolfe, Theresa, wife of Nick Resanovich, Linda, wife of the late Michael Smith, and Robert W., husband of Karen Smith; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Monique Micozzi. Robert was predeceased by his daughter, Kathy Trostle; brother, Richard Smith; and sister, Ruth Fortna.
A funeral service will be held at the Rohland Funeral Home Inc., 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon, PA, 17042, on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026, at 11 a.m., with a viewing from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
