Robert J. Kern, 96, of Myerstown, PA, passed away on Friday, Feb. 20, 2026, at Stone Ridge Poplar Run. He was the husband of the late Dolores (Newman) Kern, the late Helen (Seltzer) Kern, and the late Janice (Tobias) Kern.
Born in Jonestown, PA, on Sept. 27, 1929, Robert was a son of the late Sedgwick O. Kern and Annie R. (Stover) Kern. Robert was a graduate of Annville High School. After high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1947 to 1949 and retired as a dispatcher from Met Ed.
Robert is survived by his step-daughter, Melanie Newman; brothers, Donald (Romaine) Kern and Richard Kern; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Myrl Cramer and Thelma Kalwaytis, and brother, Sedgwick Kern.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Thompson Funeral Home Inc., 126 S. 9th St., Lebanon, PA 17042. Interment will follow at the Mount Lebanon Cemetery. Viewing hours will be held prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
