Robert Lee Manning, 69, of Lebanon, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023, at his home. He was the husband of Barbara A. Ditzler Manning. On September 27th, they would have celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary.
Born in Harrisburg on May 14, 1953, he was the son of the late Robert E. and Dorothy Jane Bittner Manning.
He was a graduate of the Newport High School Class of 1971. Bob was employed at AMP/Tyco Electronics in Engineering and Manufacturing Computer Systems for 31 years. He then retired from United Concordia Dental after six years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lickdale. He was also a member of Mount Lebanon Lodge No 226 F&AM, where he had served as the Worshipful Master. He also served as President and Vice President of Lebanon Masonic Temple Assoc., and he was a Life Member of the Zembo Shrine Clown Unit. He was a member of the Quittapahilla Forest No. 25 Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Weidle Royal Arch Charter No. 197, Lebanon Council No. 27 Royal and Select Master Masons and the Hermit Commandery No. 24 Knights Templar.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister, Susan K. (Ted) Knode, of Millerstown; brother-in-law, Richard D., and his companion, Debra Schaeffer, of Jonestown; nephew, Meade H. (Rachel) Hahn, of Millerstown; nieces, Beth A. (Robert) Smoot, of Lebanon, and Billi Sue (Gerald) Walton, of Millerstown; and several great-nieces and great-nephews, Kasey L. Smoot and Dalton R. Smoot, of Lebanon, Monica A. Smoot, of Jonestown, Paige K. (Kyle) Pittenger, of CA, Kiera (Evan) Kerstetter, of Mifflintown, Alli and Kamryn Walton, of Millerstown, and Arykah Hahn, of Millerstown. He is also survived by a great-great-nephew, Walker J. Dubble, of Jonestown, and great-great-nieces, Schae P. Pittenger, of CA, and Everleigh S. Kerstetter, of Mifflintown.
He was preceded in death by his nephew, Ricky Lynn Schaeffer.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 98 Fisher Ave., Jonestown. A Masonic Service will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by a viewing until the start of the service. Interment will follow in the Newport Cemetery, Newport.
