Robert Swavely Adams, 87, of North Londonderry Twp., died Saturday, May 30, 2020 at his residence. He was the husband of Joan Light Adams with whom he would have celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary this September 24th.
Born in Reading on August 27, 1932, he was the son of the late Harold H. and Ruth A. Swavely Adams. He was employed as a service foreman for Bell Telephone Company for 36 years.
Bob was a U.S. Marine Corp. Veteran of Korea and graduated from Reading High School in 1951 and from Albright College with a B.S. in Economics in 1972.
He attended Gravel Hill United Methodist Church, Palmyra, was a life member of Safari Club International, American Legion Post 109, Mechanicsburg, Carlisle Fish and Game, and enjoyed hunting, camping with his family, cruises, and travel to all six continents, with Africa being his favorite. Bob was a former Eagle scout and served as a scout master for 20 years in Reading, PA.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four daughters, Kathleen R. wife of Robert Sholl of Mountville, twin daughters Laurie J. wife of David Lynch of Camp Hill, Anne L. wife of William Kelly of Mt. Dora, FL, Dr. Ellen E. Adams wife of Dr. Jeffrey Pottieger of East Grand Rapids, MI, 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, a step-daughter Sharon R. Steckbeck of Annville, step-son Edward A. Wilk of Harrisburg, and a sister, Marilyn wife of Leonard Doll of Waterford, CT. He was preceded in death by two brothers Richard S. Adams and Gerald F. Waldbiesser.
A viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at the Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, 618 E. Main Street, Annville. CDC guidelines will apply. Services will be held at the convenience of the family with interment and Military Honors at Grand View Memorial Park.
