Robert W. Hower, 82, of Lebanon, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2020, at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the husband of Shirley A. Fisher Hower. On June 3rd, they celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.
Born in Lebanon on March 7, 1938, he was the son of the late David P. and Helen M. Rhen Hower. He worked as a nurse’s aid at the VA Medical Center and for many years he worked as the shuttle driver and a Security Guard at GSH. He also drove bus for D.B. Fisher. Bob was a member of Kochenderfer’s United Methodist Church and the S. Lebanon H.S. Class of 1956. He served in the US Navy on the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons Robert W., Jr. husband of Jamie Hower of Lebanon, and Shawn A. husband of Rhonda Hower of Lebanon; grandchildren Abigail wife of John Ball, and William, Carissa, Chloe, Maggie, Gavin, Ethan and Madeleine Hower; and brothers Raymond Hower of Lebanon, Ernest Hower of Enola, and Donald Hower of Lebanon.
He was preceded in death by his brothers James Hower, David “Jup” Hower, and Earl Hower, and his sister Delores Hassler.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 10, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at the Kochenderfer’s United Methodist Church, 1105 Kochenderfer Rd., Lebanon. There will be no viewing, but a visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
