Roy J. Kreider, 80, of Lebanon, passed away on Jan. 17, 2021, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Carol A. “Hartman” Kreider, with whom he would have celebrated 55 years of marriage this coming Apr.
Roy was born in Womelsdorf on Feb. 19, 1940, to the late Henry and Sara “Miller” Kreider. Roy graduated from Fredericksburg High School in 1958. It was a small class, but he was close to his former classmates and they got together often. Roy was an aluminum worker for ALCOA and a proud union member for 30 years. He served in the Army for three years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Annville. He enjoyed putting puzzles together, collecting coins, and playing chess. He was an avid fan of Penn State and the New York Yankees. ESPN was his favorite channel. He and his wife enjoyed going on cruises, traveling to Florida, Myrtle Beach, Outer Banks, and the Jersey Shore. Roy was a very patriotic man and loved his country. He enjoyed having his family around, and also enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, is a daughter, Holly, and her husband, Scott Solomon, of Annville, a son, Keith, and his wife, Melinda, of Myerstown, four grandchildren, Michelle, Courtney, Zachary, and Christopher, and two great-grandchildren, Hailey and Peiton. Also surviving is his twin brother, Ray, and wife, Barbara, of Annville, a sister, Marian, of Annville, and a brother, Earl, and wife, Nancy, of Fayetteville.
Services will be private, and he will be laid to rest at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with military honors. The family would like to extend an invitation to a luncheon and celebration of life on Feb. 26, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Waterworks Fire Co., 2875 Waterworks Way, Annville, PA 17003.
