Roy W. Kreider, 84, of Newmanstown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at his home surrounded by his children. He was the husband of the late Anna Mary (Martin) Kreider, with whom he shared 59 happy years.
Born in Akron, PA, on Aug. 11, 1940, he was the son of the late Elmer K. and Lizzie (Weaver) Kreider. Growing up, Roy worked for his father on the family farm. Roy was a charter member of Texter Mountain Mennonite Church, established in 1953.
Soon after their marriage, he served two years as an orderly in the 1-W service at Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME. When they returned home to Pennsylvania in 1963, he founded RW Kreider’s Garage. Roy and Anna Mary served the community and church faithfully. Roy enjoyed meeting people and reached out to many customers and neighbors.
He is survived by his children, Joy, wife of Steve Shirk, of Myerstown, Clifford, husband of Christine (Halteman) Kreider, of Myerstown, Curvin, husband of Mary Lee (Kropf) Kreider, of Squaw Valley, CA, David, husband of Karen (Musser) Kreider, of Newmanstown, John, husband of Kristina (Frey) Kreider, of Newmanstown, Mary Anne, wife of Jesse Weaver, of Lebanon, and Rosene, wife of Dan Zimmerman, of Reed City, MI; 29 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother, Marlin, husband of Debbie Kreider, of Belen, NM; and sister, Alta, wife of Amos Sweigart, of Xenia, IL.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Aaron Wenger; and sister-in-law, Janet Kreider.
There will be a viewing at Fairview Reception Center, 141 Jackson Road, Lebanon, on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Richland Mennonite Church, 399 Race St., Richland, on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Richland Mennonite Church Cemetery.
