Ruth J. Hoover, 83, of Lebanon, formerly of Myerstown, died Sunday, July 11, 2021, at Spang Crest, Lebanon. She was the wife of John Z. Hoover, Sr., to whom she was married 43 years on October 22, 2020.

Born in Bethel, PA on May 18, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Irwin and Naomi (Miller) Gibble. A 1956 graduate of Bethel High School, Ruth was a member of Little Swatara Church of the Brethren, Bethel. She was employed at Marco Electric, Womelsdorf, for nine years. Ruth also worked part-time as a secretary for her husband John Hoover Roof, Siding and Remodeling, Myerstown, retiring in 1998. She enjoyed reading, listening to country music, and writing poetry. Ruth had many poems published and won numerous awards for her poetry. Several of her poems were selected for a book in California.

In addition to her husband, Ruth is survived by a daughter, Karen, wife of Greg Anspach, son, Dale Dundore, son-in-law, Rick Martzall, stepdaughters, Sandi Peeler, Lydia, wife of Randy Oliver, Betsy, wife of Dave Houtz, Eunice, wife of Brian Heist, stepson, John, Jr., husband of Tanya Hoover, sisters, Arlene Stamm, Jean Keeney, Glenna, wife of Robert Lebo, Phyllis Knoll, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kelly Martzall, and daughter-in-law, Shawn Dundore.

Funeral services will be held, Saturday, July 17, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. at Little Swatara Church of the Brethren, Bethel, preceded by a visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the adjoining church cemetery.
