Sandra J. Sholley, 62, of Myerstown, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021, beside her husband and very best friend of 47 years, Kevin A. Sholley. Born in Lebanon on Aug. 17, 1958, Sandra was the daughter of William and Myra (Maze) Swonger.

Sandra enjoyed sewing and keeping busy with all sorts of crafts, but her family, by far, was the center of her world. She loved to camp with them and cherished the memories they made together at Twin Grove Campground in Pine Grove. She spent countless hours helping her dad in his garden, had a voracious appetite for Amish fiction, and was proud of her private library of Beverly Lewis and Jerry Eicher books.

Sandra worked as a nurse’s aide for many years but her innate ability to care for others didn’t end when that job did. When she and Kevin moved to Arbor Gate almost five years ago, Sandra not only became active in their clubs but also created newsletters to keep everyone updated on the latest neighborhood news. Over time, Sandra’s witty and fun-loving personality drew many of the residents to her, and, as a result, countless friendships were made. She was always happy to lend a hand and wasn’t afraid of hard work. Countless lawns were manicured and lives touched because of Sandra’s selflessness. She became the daughter some never had and her kindness will never, ever be forgotten.

In addition to her husband and parents, Sandra is survived by two children, Kristi Hartman, and her husband, Matthew, and Jason Sholley, and his wife, Amy, her step-son, Matthew Sholley, three grandchildren, Katelynn, Myles, and Dexter, four siblings, Sharon Davis, and her husband, William, Larry Swonger, and his wife, Barb, Lorie Salem, Doug Swonger, and his wife, Denise, several nieces and nephews, and her faithful four-legged friends, Heidi and Harley, her long-haired dachshunds.

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sandra’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 897, Hershey, PA 17033. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. has been entrusted with arrangements. Please share your memories with the family at our online guest book at thompsonfuneralhomelebanon.com
