Sheila G. Peckenschneider, 91, of Myerstown, PA, died on Friday, July 24, 2026, at StoneRidge Poplar Run, Myerstown. She was the wife of Larry W. Peckenschneider, who died on May 6, 2013. They were married on June 14, 1957, and had celebrated 56 years of marriage.
Born in Roaring Spring, PA, on July 20, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Herbert E. and Evelyn O. (Thomas) Garber. She graduated from Roaring Spring High School in 1953, where she was a member of the marching band and played the clarinet. Sheila was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Myerstown, PA. She was an avid reader and sewer, and enjoyed crafts, playing the bells, and bible study. Sheila worked as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in the Myerstown and Richland areas for 21 years, retiring in 1992 as Postmaster.
She is survived by her daughter, Pilar Sholley; sons, Bret W. Peckenschneider and Michael R. Peckenschneider; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Jan T., husband of Jean Garber; daughter-in-law, Marybeth Peckenschneider; and two nieces. Sheila was preceded in death by her son, Colin Peckenschneider; grandson, Michael Peckenschneider Jr.; and daughter-in-law, Kim Peckenschneider.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026, at 11 a.m., at Grose Funeral Home Inc., 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
