Shirley Ilene Steele passed away peacefully on May 10, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon Pennsylvania. She was 87 years old.

Born on February 16, 1936 in New Bethlehem, PA, Shirley was the daughter of the late Margaret (Hellman) Bish and Jesse Bish. One of ten siblings, she was preceded in death by Kenneth, Rich, Vern, Betty and Helen. Her surviving siblings are Charlotte, Maxine, Janet, and Delores

She married her high school sweetheart Gordon N. Steele when he returned from the Navy; and they shared loving relationship until his death in 2000. They were both exceptional parents to their three children, Phillip Steele (deceased) Transfer, PA; Tammy Steele, Lebanon, PA; and Mark Steele, Kemah, TX.

She loved her three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She donated to local community organizations such as the fire department, the rescue mission, the food bank and she also volunteered for the Democratic Party. Her hobbies included watching mysteries and the news, as well as staying up-to-date on political issues.  She also loved to converse with anyone she met and certainly had the gift of gab.

She was known as a kind and generous friend and will be dearly missed by family, friends, and all who knew her.  Rest in peace, beautiful lady. Life won’t be the same without you.
