Shirley Jean McLean entered peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior Thursday, November 10, 2022. She was 79 years old.

Shirley was born November 29, 1942, in Highland Park, MI, to the late Elzia “Jim” McDonald and Mary (Savitsky) McDonald.

She was a proud mother who loved to love on others. Whether it was crocheting newborn baby sets or decorating wedding cakes for family and friends, her hands were rarely still, and she was an amazing cook. Having a servant’s heart, she enjoyed volunteering at her church.

Shirley was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Douglas, and dear brother-in-law Mark Kunderas.

She is survived by her three children, Tamara and husband Joseph Wojcik, Candace and husband Anthony Mowery, and Douglas McLean II and partner Kenn Phipps; her grandchildren Amanda, Jordan, Brandon, Ryan, Melani, Ian, Evan, and Owen; her great-grandchildren Arwen, Brayden, Scarlett, and Chandler; two brothers, Dennis and wife Carol McDonald and Keith McDonald and devoted sisters-in-law Jill Tracy and partner Gary Scheiner, Gale Kunderas and Sue McDonald.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 13th, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Port Huron, MI.

Shirley had a way of making everyone feel special and, as a result, was affectionally referred to as “mom” and “grandma” by many whom she loved and touched deeply. She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. Her deep love for her husband, Doug, was evident even after his passing. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. Above all, Shirley was a woman of strong faith, believing in the grace of Jesus Christ, and she will be missed dearly.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 1029 6th St., Port Huron, MI 48060.
