Stanley D. Asbury, Jr., 100, of Cornwall, passed away on Wednesday, September 28th, 2022, at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 80 years, Florence A. (Eckert) Asbury.
Born in Erie, PA, on March 21st, 1922, he was the son of the late Stanley and Viola (Klein) Asbury.
Stanley enlisted in the PA National Guard in 1940, before serving in the United States Army during World War II. He graduated from Officer’s Candidate School, Grinnell, Iowa, in 1943 and was separated in 1946. He then served in the Army Reserves and was discharged with the rank of Captain.
Stanley was employed by First National Bank of Lebanon for 35 years, as well as People’s Bank for 18 years, before retiring in 2003. He was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, where he served on the Vestry, as well as Financial Secretary, and was a member of the choir since 1962.
Stanley was a member of the Mt. Lebanon Lodge No. 226, a 32nd degree Mason, a Charter Member of the Lebanon Valley Sertoma Club, and a member of the Hershey-Palmyra Sertoma Club, where he served as Secretary for many years. He also helped the LHS Band Parents at the refreshment stand for sporting events for over 30 years.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Dianne L. Annibali of Chantilly, VA, and two grandchildren, Christopher J. Annibali, husband of Valeria of Las Vegas, NV, and Elizabeth D. Annibali, wife of Shawn C. Paxton of Chantilly, VA.
Stanley was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Dr. Joseph A. Annibali, and a brother, Richard Asbury, husband of Carol of Wilmington, NC,
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 21st, 2022, at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A Celebration of Stanley Asbury’s Life will take place at 11:30 AM on Saturday, October 22nd, 2022, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Lebanon. There will be a luncheon at the Church following the Celebration of Life Service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 22 S. 6th St. Lebanon, PA 17042, in his memory.
