Stanley E. Hartzell, 90, of Pine Grove, formerly of Jonestown, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at the Tremont Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Catherine B. Fedosh Hartzell. On Oct. 19, they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
Born in Ft. Meade, MD, on June 9, 1933, he was the son of the late Charles and Edna Miller Hartzell.
Following high school, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict on the USS Dionysus. Stanley worked as a management analyst for the federal government. Following his retirement, he worked for Fulton Bank. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Chapel, the DAV, the VFW, and the American Legion. He was an avid Eagles fan and never missed watching a game. He loved lighthouses, and along with his wife, they visited over 150 of them.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, David J., and his wife, Fay Hartzell, of Port Matilda, Daniel S., and his wife, Nancy Hartzell, of Annville, and Joseph S., and his wife, Shirley Hartzell, of New Berlin; daughter, Susan E., wife of John Breidenstine, of Schuylkill Haven; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Sandy Hartzell, of Summerville, NJ.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Our Lady of Fatima Chapel, Rt. 22 & N. Mill St., Jonestown. A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Jonestown. Interment with military honors will follow the Mass at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
