Retired Funeral Director and Owner, Steven R. Kreamer, 66, of Annville, passed away on Tuesday, March 4th, 2025, at his residence. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Brenda M. (Sanger) Kreamer.
Born in Lebanon, PA on May 10th, 1958, he was the son of the late Robert E. and Phyllis “Geeb” (Hansen) Kreamer.
Following his grandfather, great-uncle, and father in the funeral industry, Steve was a third generation Licensed Funeral Director, and former owner of Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., before retiring in 2022. He was a 1976 graduate of Annville-Cleona High School. In 1980, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he played football and rugby, and was a member of the Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity. Steve obtained his Funeral Service Arts and Sciences Degree from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1981, which allowed him to serve as a Licensed Funeral Director for over 40 years, and to own the business for over 38 years before transitioning it to his son, Christian.
Steve was very active in his community, holding various Board of Director positions and contributing to the American Cancer Society, Annville-Palmyra Sertoma Club, where he received the “Sertoman of the Year” Award in 2020, Annville-Cleona Lions Club, Shining Light Ministries, Lebanon Family Health Services, Lebanon Rescue Mission, and the Central Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. He had a strong faith, a genuine love for God, and was a lifelong member of Christ Church United Church of Christ in Annville. He was a member of Lebanon Country Club, Mt. Lebanon Masonic Lodge #226, and Zembo Shriners. His professional memberships included the National Funeral Directors Association, Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association, where he served as District Governor from 2019 to 2023, Lebanon/Schuylkill County Funeral Directors Association, where he served as President, and the Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce with whom he was named the Business Person of the Year in 1999 in recognition of his commitment to the community. One of his greatest, and most rewarding career achievements occurred when he volunteered as a member of the National Funeral Directors Association Fatality Team in New York City following September 11th, 2001.
Steve was active his entire life, completing multiple marathons, triathlons, and working out regularly at CrossFit Hershey. He enjoyed golf trips with friends, visiting his children at college, vacations, mission trips, remodeling apartments, mowing the lawn, a good cigar, Green Bay Packers Football, skiing, boating, fishing, casino trips, going to the movies, his famous homemade salads, Dairy Queen M&M Blizzards, coffee, and beer. He was never without his beloved dog Riley, who served alongside him as a Therapy Dog for the Funeral Home. But most of all, Steve loved the time spent with family and friends, whether that was at his home in the Pocono Mountains, or some other place.
In addition to his wife, he will be missed by his son, Christian Steven Kreamer of Annville, his daughter, Kennedy Dawn Kreamer, significant other of Joshua A. Kopman of Tampa, FL, four sisters, Sue Ann, wife of Robert Freeman of Lebanon, Kristen Kreamer of Plymouth Meeting, Stefanie, wife of Benjamin Dohner of Annville, Holly, wife of William Shirley of Downingtown, a granddaughter, Carsen Grace, many nieces and nephews, his coworkers, and two grand dogs, Panda and Millie.
