Terry Smith, 71, of Annville, passed away and went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024, after his battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was a 1971 graduate of Annville Cleona High School. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Smith, in April 2010 and is the son of Ruth Smith (Keenan), of Elizabethtown. He was born on April 10, 1953.
Upon graduation from high school, Terry served in the U.S. Navy as a Second-Class Radioman on the USS EL PASO from 1971-1975. After leaving the military, he went to work for the family business, Smith’s Sheet Metal and Hardware, in Annville. He worked for the family business for 20 years before going into business with his sister-in-law, Denise Snyder, when they opened DJ’s Olde Annville Inn on Main Street in Annville. After closing the restaurant in 2002, Terry went to work for Lebanon Transit as a driver for two years, then as a maintenance manager for four years, and then as the manager of operations and maintenance for the remainder of his 20 years at Lebanon Transit before retiring in October 2021.
Terry was a life member of the Union Hose Fire Company in Annville and was the Director of the Union Hose Ambulance for several years as an EMT. He was an EMT instructor, advanced first-aid instructor, and CPR instructor for the American Red Cross while serving with the Union Hose Ambulance. He enjoyed hunting in his early years but preferred watching wildlife in his later years.
Terry is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Karen L. Smith, of Annville; children, Bryan Smith (Brooke), of Spring Hill Acres, Mandi Smith, of Annville, Mark Fenicle (Ann), of Lebanon, Kyle Fenicle (Jennifer), of Fredericksburg, and Melissa Dennis (Brandon), of Annville; sister, Diane Archuleta (Dale); brother, Garry Smith (Wendy); 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Sept. 6, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Annville United Christian Church, 245 W. Church St., Annville. A visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024, from 6-8 p.m., at the church. There will be no visitation prior to the service on Friday morning.
