Thomas Ernest Lechner crossed the great unknown on Sept. 8, 2023.

Tom was born on March 11, 1960, in Middletown, Connecticut, to the late Ernest and Violet (Brightbill) Lechner.

He grew up in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, where he attended Cedar Crest High School. Later, he served in the U.S. Army.

Tom was an animal lover through and through and rescued enough dogs and cats to open a kennel club. He was happiest with at least two dogs on his lap, preferably helping him clean crumbs from his beard.

A lifelong motorhead, Tom also spent many peaceful miles on his Harley, riding the winding roads of Lebanon and the surrounding counties.

Tom is survived by his beloved partner, Tracy Beard, as well as his siblings, Jane (Harry) Killian, Ron, and Judy (Dave) Leggat.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy, and his best hound, Blue.

His many nieces and their children will remember Tom for his waterbed, his enduring love of the Rams, and his penchant for giving loud gifts with extra batteries. Because Tom always had a sense of humor, these gifts usually produced fart sounds.

Tom inherited deep generosity from his mother and always made connections if he could link a loved one to resources, whether that was helping someone find an editor for their memoir or locating gluten-free stuffing for Thanksgiving.

Tom’s family is holding a celebration of life at Sunnyside Motorcycle Club. Date and time will be determined later. Friends are invited to raise a Rolling Rock in his memory, with a final ride to follow.

A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to The Humane Society of Lebanon County or Davis Dog Farm.
